Poor Man's Forced Inuction

Like it was said...hook it to a go-kart and maybe....but as far as on a truck just do it right the first time.

No such thing. If it was cheap and easy and yielded results, all the car manufacturers would be doing it from the factory.

"Cheap" and "induction" don't go in the same sentence.

I have a magazine (maxituning, mexico version), from when i was into modding cars and stuff like that.
well they tried a turbonator-the thing that you install on the intake and trigger an electric engine with a small fan bla bla, on a chevrolet chevy, a small car with like 95hp

Well they tested it on a drag track, adn they claim they got 1 second off of the cars 1/4 mile time using that thing.
Not that i believe it, but maybe on small engines it could( im not saying it works), but it could give a bit of improvement.

:c-n:

ok, lets do some math shall we? (drunken math YAY!) ok, a 4L motor intakes 4L of air every intake stroke of every cylinder, seeing as each cylinder makes 1 intake stroke, every 2 revolutions of the crank, we can divide the displacement by 2, giving us 2 L of intake per revolution, now, our 4L "redline" around 6000 rpm, so lets go with that figure, 2L time 6000 rpm, gives us 12,000 LPM, now lets convert LPM to CFM, 1 LPM 0.0353 CFM, so 12,000 LPM=423.6 CFM now you tell me what your leaf blower can put out

Overdone? Yes. A stupid waste of time and money? Probably.

The prospect of being the first person to make it really work well: Unresistable.

the prospect of being the first person to make it really work well: retarded

Sounds like the same logic used in the 'Flying Sheep' routine on Monty Python's Flying Circus back in the day.........

Some ppl just don't get it.

So, I've been thinking of a fun but not permanent idea for forced induction using a powerful electric leaf blower. I wouldn;t bother, but I've seen proof of concept in the form of my friend hooking on up to the intake of his '95 F-150. I figure a mildly solid setup could be accomplished with a powerful elec leaf blower, some wiring, a jerry rigged air cleaner, a pair of extra batteries, a high output alternator, and a case of beer.

Anyone on here actually tried what I refer to as a Black & Decker forced inuction?

awww, rp, i was saw you replied to this thread and got all excited, i brought a fire extinguisher and everything! but sadly, no flames :( if anyone would be one to listen to about this, it would be you...

snake oil to the third power. leaf blower superchargers, give me a break.

with all fairness, the leafblower idea would actually work, but is just dumb in concept, and if they are electric leaf blowers, the draw on the alternator will be significant enough that it will drop the power gain from the blowers by a good amount

what if you used a leaf blower to supercharge the engine on the leafblower supercharging the car's engine?

maybe then you'd get enough boost.

:icon_rofl:

shhh... don't let that idea get out to the honda owners, then they'll think that they can start keeping up with traffic around here. :icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

only the guy who decided 1 transmission wasn't enough, nor was 2, not even 3 transmissions was enough, he decided to throw a few transfercases at the rig too... only THAT person would come up with this idea...

OH! how about a turbo charged leaf blower?
