Poor Man's Forced Inuction

Overdone? Yes. A stupid waste of time and money? Probably.

The prospect of being the first person to make it really work well: Unresistable.

The idea has been done.. and well the kid was posting youtube videos and quit after he completed "upgrading" his blower..

Someone has built a legit electric forced induction in the 80's. It consisted of multiple batteries which would get murdered everytime he decided to flip the switch on the 4 starters with pulleys modified to fit on them and it lasted a whopping 40 seconds or so... Seem worth it? lol

untill about a week ago i'd have just completely ignored this thread all together. however, hot rod magazine put two gas powered leaf blowers on a vette i think and were able to generate something along the lines of 8# of boost off idle, which dropped to about 1/2# at WOT.

Its not a good idea, just an idea lots of people have.

See my post (and link) above

A redneck rigged leafblower does not equal a legit, if not short lasting true elec supercharger. Assuming this system is similar to real kits that are out there.

I would just laugh my ass off if somebody pulled up next to me with a leafblower noise coming from under the hood.

itd be a good idea, if it worked... its sad that the engine draws in more air then any electric supercharger.... the things people sell... i swear someone made it and was like **** we just wasted all this money designing this and it sucks balls. lets sell it to people and lets say 15-30% extra power. we wont tell them 15-30%extra power if engine is off.

If you are referring to those ripoff elec turbo/SC's, I highly doubt they did much engineering. They are for the most part a scam, and the makers know it. Maybe it would do something to an 11hp go kart motor I have, but not any car.

There is no kit out there for this.. :icon_idea: Let me find a article on the guy who built a legit electric supercharger setup..

Well read this first.. http://www.wildweasel.ca/HowTo/Auto/eturbo.aspx

There are kits for electrically powered centrifugal type superchargers that are heavy duty as hell and really work, they are just really expensive and short lasting. Dunno if that was the thing from the 80's you were talking about or not, and I knew all about fake electric superchargers like the one with the cone filter on it that was posted earlier.

Id rather get a tesla roadster, some electric torque!

Dumbest shit I have ever seen.

I can't even remember how long I've had a REAL supercharger on my truck. It runs reliably and is fun to drive, too! Every time I see a hair-dryer thread in this forum I shake my head. Many of us have done forced injection on our trucks, and we know how to do it right. Trying to "go cheap" will waste more money than doing the right thing from the outset.
