I have a 1994 Ranger XLT Supercab with the 3.0 V6 engine. I bought it used in 98 with 89,000 miles on the odometer. It's now at 260,000 + on the clock. It's been a damn good truck all and all. The original blower motor just went out recently and I replaced it with a new one from Oreilly Auto. The new motor works well, but there is hardly any airflow coming from the registers. I'm thinking the evaporator core is plugged up with dirt. It has been driven in very dusty conditions at times. The blower wheel was very dirty before I installed it on the new motor. I know the blend door can cause problems, but I don't think this is the case because the minimal amount of air coming through the vents is very cold. There's just not enough airflow. Can I access the evaporator core through the blower motor opening and blow it out with air? Or, do I need to remove the evap case from the firewall and remove the evap to clean it. Also, do I have to discharge the A/C system if I remove the case? I wish it was as easy to get to as the heater core on this truck.
