so yea, was leavin school today hit a ice patch then a pole with my truck at 30mph!:bawling: Front bumper was past the other side of the pole by atleast 6 inches! both airbags deployed! hit directly in the center somehow??? any ideas on what might be done with the truck? like tottaled? or the pole costs? who will be billed? really freakin UPSET!! BUT WTH shit happend...

My guess is that you will be billed since it sounds like nobody else was involved. No idea on cost though.

those damn poles just pop outa nowhere sometimes. trust me i know haha

i know too. the truck is probably totaled. its up to you if you think it is worth fixing. i didnt have the air bags go off. i thought i could fix mine and now im stuck with it. the cost of my pole was 1200 for one piece of wood, 3 trucks and 3 hrs of labor. they screwed me on that cuz one guy coulda done it in 30 min. they didnt need the others. anyway, that sucks. heres some pics if it makes you feel any better.

Generally once both air bags deploy, insurance companies wright em off.

After visting the junkyard, it really doesn't take much to total a truck. And certainly a pole dead center with both air bags deplode would must like be totaled.

Then again, you might be luck and just requires a new bumper, grill, hood, and a few other things. The insurance co. will be the judge.

I had an accident last winter with my truck. I was headed north bound when the rear end kicked out from under me. I hit someone heading south bound they hit me in the back of my truck. The bed of my truck was bowed up theres was 8 thousand dallars of damage to it and the insurance wrote a check for it. The body shop I went to straightened out the frame. So you hitting the pole in the center of your truck They may just repair it for you. They'll determine which will be cheaper for them repair it or total it out.

My guess with out seeing the truck is that it will be totaled.
airbags,bumper, grill,radiator support, etc is a total on on a 2000 model.

so i drove past the pole this morning goin to school! gah so there were 6NIPSCO trucks there replacing one pole? I was told it is a 3 phase line but i have no clue what that means, but it sounds compclicated.. lol WTF!?!? and my "ford" plate from my front bumper was boted about 6 feet up the pole... thanks guys... and then my broken grill was hanging on the "FIRE TRUCK EXIT" sign that is also on the pole. haha... nice.. i dont have any pictures of my truck, but i sure do hope to getsome when I go to the grage its being stored at.. I'LL KEEP YOU GUYS UPDATED ON WHAT HAPPENED.. And ofcourse with my school being only 500 and somethin kids large EVERYONE knew by 7:45 this morning.. nice huh?

Your reputation exceeds you...but I'd recover the plate since that is personal property...unless your laws are different that in Canada...

A friend of mine hit a pole when it was pouring rain in a Neon. He actually knocked it down and it fell on top of his car. He had full coverage insurance, I think the pole was like $3000, but I believe they (insurance) paid for it. It was a city light pole, I suppose it depends on the pole.

:worthless:
