I am getting a 93 ranger 4x4 with the 4.0 and It lost oil pressure. I am assuming it needs a new engine. I found one in the JY for a good price. Any pointers on removing it? I have taken my share of engines out but never a 4.0. I would prefer the 2.5 or 2.3 as I can pull those with no issue.

Pointers like where and what can I leave in the truck and still get the engine out. Easier to pull trans with it or leave in.

It's hard to pull with a trans. The rad support needs to be cut otherwise.

My suggestion is to remove bolts at the y-pipe, and not the exhaust manifold. They will snap. My suggestion, if the yard will allow you....cut the y-pipe right after the manifold, or remove the y-pipe right after the cat and worry about it all later when some penetrating fluid, and heat can easily be used to massage the bolts out.

Other than that...straight forward.

Good point.. I normally remove just the down pipe bolts for the very reason you said. Broken bolts are easier to get to than the manifold bolts.
