OK, 88 A4LD. When the floor shifter is placed in OD it shifts as if its just in D. I know that's really vague, but I don't know any other way to explain it. It runs the same way it always has in D, shifts firmly and on time @ 3k or so at 65-70mph , it just seems as if maybe it's just not going that extra notch or something into overdrive. New modulator, ignition coil, ignition module, cap and wires.. The reason I point these out is it started after all of this!!!:dunno: Just looking to be pointed in the right direction here..

Thanks
Eric

If I ever owned an auto, I might be of some help. I thought you should only put in OD if you are staying in one gear for an extended period of time.

I dunno too much about the A4LD, but if I had to guess, I'd say the over drive band isn't applying.

When driving at about 55 shift between D and OD for about 15 seconds then back to D. you should be able to feel a shift and see a difference in engine rpm. If there is NO change the Overdrive Band is not applying for some reason. 3-4 solenoid, 3-4 shift valve, OD band, OD servo, Wiring . Are there any codes?

I'm hoping it's just the 3-4 solenoid.. I had a bad ground at the battery that inadvertantly fried my ignition module and coil at the same time, that's when it started.

I guess the big question is, can I still drive it like I used to in the "drive" position without hurting it? I've done that in the past when pulling stuff with no problems other than reduced fuel milage.

Thanks for all the post so far.
Eric

I drove mine for about three months with no OD due to a bad 3-4 solenoid. When I did get around to changing it, everything went back to normal.

Unless I did something wrong pulling codes, nothing came up except 18 in memory. Nothing for the tranny!! Fluid looks good still, I'm hoping it's something simple, I'm gonna take it to a tramission guy that, believe or not, only fixes what is needed, insted of saying rebuild.. Cross ur fingers for me.

Bad 3-4 solnoid...! No Codes! Interesting! He said the TC is locking so it'll be ok to drive until next week when he can get to it or longer if I'm a tight ass.:D:D
