PlumCrazy's Build

Where'd you get the cupholder panel......the guys have been on my case for 3 years to put a decent cupholder set-up in my '36/'89 Ranger.....the 2-fer-$1 cupholders that i have now just don't look that good :icon_rofl:

I should have never suggested to put an a/c unit in the truck.

But hey now that you have all those cooling upgrades, you should be able to make an awsome cooling cup holder. :D

I will sandblast all the surface rust and sling paint on it eventually.

so....instead of bent sheetmetal, you'll have cracked fiberglass:icon_confused::dunno::dunno:

I think he will have a bunch of tube surrounding it to act as rub rails. I forgot those were glass.

Steppy sides will not be used. A-They are glass, B- Steppies are hideous.

There will a subtle exo/slider/rub rail setup on the new bed.

IMO fiberglass is a much easier repair. And there is no accounting for taste:icon_twisted:
{just look at my pile}

I can half ass pop metal back out....fiberglass just breaks into pieces that require more effort to reattach.lol

Its so much easier to replace fiberglass sides but i agree metal = better

When I am done, the metal sides will be just as easy.lol

My dad has access to some pretty large press brakes, so I had him make these up.

They will attach to the factory holes in the steppy bed.

I also picked up a rust free bedside to get started on.

I will attach it just like the steppy sides, but match the width of the cab up front. The rear will be doved roughly 4" on each side.

Its not much, but it will be enough for me to add rub rail/sliders to the bedside, and not stick out wider than the cab. And Ill still have a usable bed.

I wasn't planning on building a bed until the motor was built and I bought new tires..... but my cash flow follows the path of least resistance...... and at the moment bed parts are the cheapest parts on my shopping list.lol

When I hit the paint stage... progress will sloooow down. lol I will probably shoot paint myself since I can paint the sides off the truck and in a clean controlled area, but Im not going to cheap out on paint.lol
