PlumCrazy's Build

Threw my spare cracked (but legal) tail light in, and popped enough of the bed out to get the other light to not catch the tailgate.

New rotor, pads, and 760x joints are in transit, so I should have everything together in time to make a SOR run on the 7th.

My spare Chevy inner shaft needs trimmed down to EB length...

Turns out my pass side stub shaft is egged pretty bad and joint caps are cracked.

The EB stub actually survived.. The POS Brute Force joint snapped and took the yoke of the inner with it.

I got a few spare shafts on the way thanks to 036speed and 1badex.

Hopefully they hold up for a while....

How come you all don't use the same type of joint that is used in Honda's, and Toyota's?

Those things can handle 400 hp+ and drag racing., plus they can turn tighter and not bind.

The only CV shafts you can get for the D44 are from RCV to the tune of $1200.

Newer D30s came with CVs, but most swap them out for U-joints.

Why are you tacking the weaker part of the shaft? you should be tacking at the body not the ear. This could also slightly warp the ears

Edit: Or is it welded at both points?

Why not get Chromoly shafts?

It was tacked at the body..but those tacks cracked and the caps spun, so I tacked both sides. And they still spun and egged...lol

Because I am a cheap bastard...next time I probably will. My pass inner is a JBG chromo and its out lived two joints and two stubs.lol Im surprised I haven't cracked a hub yet.

What kind of hubs your running?

Damn lead foot... haha you must be running some pretty great hubs on that d44 to hold over a U joint...

Weld that bitch in a complete bead, never lose a cap haha

Warn Premiums... I carry OEM Dana slugs and dust caps for trail spares.

damn, usually the premiums suck, Ive had better luck with factory hubs.

I wheel with Plum because he has all the tools and spare parts that I need. He even brings transmissions sometimes.

I didn't bring a whole trans... just an output shaft, reverse gears, and an extension housing.... I only bring things I have broke before.

I did get one off Escort at Bundy though.
