Im going to apologize in advance for having to ask these questions. But can you identify these for me?

First is a hose that came apart while squeezing my hands in to do my plugs and wires. When I plugged it back in i noticed this tear in it. It connects to the air box but I couldnt follow the other end. What is the hose and its purpose?

here is where it connects to the air box...

I then noticed that my clutch fluid resivoir has a hose that goes down and connects to something under the brake booster...that something appears to be leaking despite my clutch fluid resivoir having what looks like substantial amount of fluid.

here is a close up with the trail of fluid present. What is this?

Lastly I noticed that a black capsule with what appears to be a plastic vaccum line has broken...no label on this picture but the black capsule is obvious and I'm holding the broken line that dissappears into my wires. What is this capsule? and where does this line go?

thanks all for any help. I have been trying to figure out a rough idle issue. would either of the lines i pointed to b the cause of the rough idle? i know i disconnected the air intake box line accidently while doing the plugs but if the tear was present before would it contribute to the rough idle or on the other hand if i caused that tear could that be causing a slightly rougher idle now even with new plugs and wires?

thanks all again

Item #1, vacuum line. The unidentified end is on the intake. The end you did show is part of a thermostatically controlled diverter valve. It opens and closes a flapper in a duct that allows air to be pulled from near the exhaust during extreme cold starts to help start up and warm up.

Item #2, The brake reservoir feeds the brake master cylinder. What do you think the thing connected to the clutch reservoir by a fluid line is?

Hint: Clutch master.

Item #3 Vacuum canister. Your truck has lots of things that run on vacuum, like the HVAC mode door. The canister is there to dampen pulses of vacuum from things like sudden high throttle. If your HVAC gets stuck in defrost that is a good place to start looking.

On the note of item #1- is this tear something i need to worry about/ replace? would it contribute to a rough idle?

I'd like to start off item #2 response with...haha I will take that hint of sarcastic " you shoulda known better" adsm. Could the "leak" im seeing from the clutch master cyclinder be caused by my spraying wd40 down the shaft from the clutch pedal side to quiet a squeak? I probably should just replace the master cylinder so I am not going to ask if it needs to be changed...

item #3 i can't find anything under that name...is there another name i could try?

will either item 1 or 3 affect driving? is it safe to drive?

#1 and #3 are both vacuum leaks and can/will cause idle issues. They could also cause weird reactions to sudden throttle. (Think taking off from a red light.)

Might try searching vacuum reservoir? It's most likely gonna be a junkyard part though. Unless Ford still stocks them.

Any time you have a damaged vacuum line it should be repaired as quickly as possible. Not only is it unmetered air going in, messing up the A/F calculation, it is also unfiltered air, bringing in dirt that could do engine damage.

I prefer to think of it as "encouraging critical thinking".

Anyway, the WD-40 probably didn't cause the leak. It's more likely the leak caused the squeak. Brake fluid makes things squeaky.

I can't think of another name for it.

Again, any air leaks should be fixed as quickly as possible.

Used heat shrink tubing I found laying around on both vacuum issues and it seemed to stop the leak until I get a day off to got to the yard and actually pull real vacuum lines. Thanks all.

Finding good hardlines in the yard may be difficult. I prefer to buy the rolls of rubber line and seal them to clean cut ends using a methyl acrylaite (super glue).
