Please ID this plug near the bumper

When I bought my 98 Ranger supercab 4x4 with manual transmission it was missing the rear bumper. There are two tag lights and this connector coming off the main harness. Any idea what this connector is for?

Possibly the trailer connection.

Well my opinion is if all your wiring goes to both taillights and back plate lights, this plug may go to a trailer light plug. Check it with lights on and flashers on.

Yes, it was factory trailer plug option. I ordered one and plugged it in. Thanks guys!
