I have the 2.3 turbo motor in my ranger all was good untill a freakin eletrical burn wiped it all out i have been able to find a new harness and ecm however the pins in each do line up with each other and so i need to know where i can find the wiring harness and ecm out of the same car or what i can do to make this work and back on the road:annoyed:

Well, if you were smart enough to figure out how to do the swap in the first place, you should be able to figure it out again.

Factory EVTM (electrical vaccuum troubleshooting manual) are the be-all end-all of wiring diagrams and connector pinouts. They are usually cheap on ebay, look there.

There have been lots of different ranger setups and at least 3 or 4 different 2.3 turbo setups from Ford over the years. 2 or more got combined when you did the swap in your truck.

Other than that we can't really help you unless you give us lots of detailed information. Onfortunately "HELP! my wiring harness burned up how do I make it work again" won't really get you very far. We need details like:

What year ranger?
What engine did the ranger originally come with?
What engine wiring harness was used, ranger or turbo car?
What year and model did the 2.3 turbo come from?
How many of the turbo specific engine controls did you retain in the swap? (boost solenoid, knock sensor, etc)

That would give us a good start.

yea and wut all harness material on the motor was used or did u use all of the ranger harness?

well see thats the problem! i have no clue as to what the harness came out of or what the orginal ecm cam out of. you see the harness has been cut and redone by someone other than my self. i bought the truck with a blown motor after it sat in a feild for two year. the windshield was broke and the ecm got water on it causing it to ruct to the point that the stickers are gone and rust to thick to read that stampings. i have looked at the wiring diagrams and have to come to the conclusion that the harness came out of a non turbo 2.3 ranger. according to the wiring diagrams that i went off the 2.3 turbo cars didnt have a heated o2 sensor but my truck does so how the hell it ever ran is beyond me. i have it running now and layin down some serious power on the dyno however it smokes like a diesel. it is gettiing no vam or bar reading to the ecm. long story short i just need to find a new harness poss. out of a 1986 turbo coupe or somethin like it. but no matter wgere i look i cant find a harness?:icon_confused:

A 2.3 ranger harness will work just fine. You'll just have to repin about 8 wires on the computer connector end of it, and maybe add a few more for things like the heated O2. Repinning the computer connector is a piece of cake if you have the connector pinout for both the ranger the harness came out of and the car the computer came out of.

If the VAM isn't reading right you need the trace the wires back to the computer and make sure they aren't cut, grounded, or on the wrong pin for the computer you're using.
