I'm trying to help a Marine who is getting out for medical reason. He has an 87 ranger that had a 2.9 engine. I have an 89 2.9 and put it in. It was then that I discovered I don't have the wire harness for the fuel injectors, as my 89 engine runs a different wire harness that the 87. All this thing needs is the 87 wire harness ( his truck didn't have that when I got it ) installed and I can give him his truck back. ANY and ALL help is appreciated and needed desperately.

Gonna either have to junkyard hunting, or adapt the 89 parts to the 87. They should be very similar...

Do you need the entire engine harness or just the injector harness? Where are you located?

I'm in North Carolina. I need the injector harness, I don't think I'm missing anything else, but could be wrong.

Injector harness only has 3 wires
A 12volt wire that runs to each injector, daisy chained
Then 2 ground wires from computer
1 ground wire runs to 3 injectors, 1, 2 and 4
Other ground wire runs to 3, 5 and 6
On 2.9l
Most others did odd and even, 1, 3, 5 and 2, 4, 6

1986 thru 1990 should have the same injector plugs and wiring, and just the 3 wires where it starts to split off to run to the injectors

12v wire is always RED
ground wires can be green/white and tan/red
Or just tan and white

The big difference I see between 87 and 89 is that the harness that pugs into the distributor is part of the injector harness on the 89, but the 87 it isn't. Also, I'm not certain where the injector harness plugs into the truck at on the 87.
