I have 89 Ford Bronco 2, 2.9, 5spd, has new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, airfilter, and runs Ok, current issues.
1.) high idle
2.) little rough sound like running on 5 cyls *gonna check/change injectors but have not done that yet*
3:), most annoying, truck sets for several days, fire it up runs pretty good , go bounce around in woods for a little bit then, why your trying to accelerate in the rpms, will fall on its face and want to die , almost like turning the ignition off to kill engine, just looses all power, but push in clutch it wont die will stay idling rough, or usually u can continue to drive as long as your less than 2000 rpms, just using torque , cruising around, but snap throttle open cuts out wants to die, *but if you turn it off completely, and restart sometime cures problem very temporarily*

Sometime you can drive for 15-30 mins with no problem, once it acts up, usually put it up, and get it out another time? does this sound like fuel pressure regulator?

- I tried another thick film ignition module, no change in performance.

The TFI was what I would 1st suspected...take them to your local parts store and get them tested (at least 3 times each), if you havn't already done so.

get the codes.... this will help direct you in repairing it quickly.:icon_thumby:

this can be several things or combination of things.

for the FPR pull the small vauum line off, & see if fuel dribbles out...if yes, then replace the FPR. still could be bad but it is a quick and easy way to check it.

vacuum leaks are absolute killer for run ability....also cheack over the ground wires, make sure they are all good.

what about the fuel filter, has it been changed resently?? or a good tune up?
