I bought an 86 ranger 2.3 4 wheel drive a while back and I changed the motor because the one it had in it lost compression on one of the cylinders. The new motor I put in it is also a 2.3 and it came out of a mustang. Now my truck surges when I'm driving down the road, almost like it isnt getting the right amount of gas while driving but it is fine at an idle. I have changed both fuel pumps and the tank, I even changed the high pressure pump twice because I had been told that there was the possibility that I bought one that was bad, so i took one of of an identical truck that ran perfect. Helped for a little bit til the truck gets warmed up and then it starts surging again. I cant drive it over 30 MPH because it just wont go. I have also changed the coil, it has new plugs and wires. Please help me, I am really close to giving up, I have put about 1000 bucks into this truck in just the last 3 weeks trying to make it run right and I just cant figure it out! I also read in another post that if the fuel pressure regulator is bad that it will have raw gas in the vacuum line and i checked that and it didnt have any. Any insight would help, thanks so much!
