Blocking off the iac will eliminate it's idle controlling function altogether. The iac on my 2.3 was getting "sticky" when the motor got warmed up. Sometimes it will idle normally (about 7-800) other times 2000. Since it still functioned intermittantly and wasn't completely stuck i unplugged it and set my warm engine idle to 800. This achieves the same thing as blocking it off and the motor will need a fast idle by way of your foot to stay running. This is okay for me because i'm used to driving my camaro w/o a choke assembly, and the truck has a five speed.
So either shell out the cash for a new motor or let it warm up before driving it. Either way, the truck should run fine
