My credo
If you're not making mistakes, you're not learning.
But seriously, don't shoot your ******* guns into the air.

Thankfully it bounced (relatively) harmlessly to the ground, and not into one of us. In the top picture there is a little grey spot where it hit the soffiting (straight up from the right side edge of the trim) and left a nice dent. There's a pretty good sized flat spot in the bullet, I'm guessing it actually hit the road about 40' away and bounced up into the house.

This has been a public service announcement by Ledd.

Won't be shootin' the shotty, but I do have $200 worth of fireworks to set off!

I was re-roofing the house a couple years back, and found a 30-06 burried in the shingles..... kinda a scarry thought.

damn. did it scare you?

It was about 1:30 AM last night, and we certainly heard the crashing glass (woke everybody up) and a good "thud". But after 15 minutes of searching for what we though was something the cat's knocked over, we could never find. So we all went back to bed scratching our heads dumbfounded. Then mid-afternoon today my dad goes to open his window and AH HA! Found it!

I am a little bit more paranoid now, yes. But there's not exactly alot we can do about it.

i thought it happened a few hours before you posted this. i didnt know it happened at night.

I have found one bullet in my roof and another one on a family members roof.

Sorry I was watching Doom the other day, it's a running joke at work when we discuss our weekend plans. haha

Nah, I'ma cash one of these 2 paychecks I have in my pocket..... prolly the small one so i just have a few hundred bucks to blow. Get some fireworks, buy a tarp (fill my truck full of water back it up to the porch and enjoy the sun), grill some steaks, drink some beer, and I have yet to decide which woman I want to hang out with (my laundry is piled up, and I need to mop) and have them clean and wax my truck.

Nope, slightly early celebration apparently. My mom was sleeping about 4' away from that window.

I'm not calling b.s. or anything, but seriously, that bullet does not look like it was shot. Where's the grooves from the rifling?

It's not a sabot round either... those wouldn't have the lube channel.

No joke about random people shooting things either. I remember back in '94 my dad was cleaning the ice off of his windshield and found a grey lump in the molding around the lower edge. Turns out that the previous spring, when he was coming back across Kansas, someone had a .22 pistol and randomly pointed it over a bridge and fired (he had thought that someone's tire blew out). The top molding piece has a good size dent that nobody can mistake for anything but that tiny bullet. He still has it saved, but he hopes he never has to find the kids who just decided to shoot at a major interstate.
