It is finial I am wanting to fix my 2.8 an go race at the tracck for fun an save up money a put a big block pumping 5 hundred hp or so an better gearing an hopefully get on pinks all out one day.. better than letting it sit an rust away, I noticed here lately its spiting oil out valve covers an outta the oil pan, will be firstd thing i fix beforw i do anythin

you amuse me...

Try a new PCV valve. Excessive blow-by is a possibility, but a bad PCV valve can cause excessive crank case pressure. Compression test that thing the next time you change plugs.

First, is to dream. I hope you go past first.
Good luck,

Richard

What is with the flurry of people going "I'm going to make a billion HP out of my ranger with a shoe string, some duck tape, and a tooth pick"

Agreed! If you wanna go fast... buy a fast car.:D

Or put an engine that has serious aftermarket potential into it, Ala Turbo 2.3/SVO, or a 5.0, Those are the only 2 ways to go IMO if you want to make BIG power, or have a small budget. There is a middle ground with some aftermarket stuff (Roots blowers/kits for the 3.0 and 4.0's I've seen), but those builds are always hugely limited due to either budget or the lack of aftermarket support...

Hell with bulidin a strocker, you got any info on this? And how much would I have in to this mod? I think I have a broken toothpick with a little bit of left over stake on it, can I use that one or will I need to buy a new one? lol

You have to start with an OEM tooth pick, any food or splinters/breaks may cause mis-fires down the road.

No,no,no. OEM toothpicks are good for daily drivers, not performance. They are usually made of pine or ash. What you need is a custom toothpick, made from a better quality wood. Try mahogany, rosewood or teak. :icon_thumby:

It good to dream, hell I do it everyday. Just thinking of doing stuff to my 3.0. But I still realize the fact, it's still a Ranger.

Stuff a 5.0 into it and never look back. I can't stress enough how reasonable it was to do this swap, and how much it changes the nature of these trucks in only positive ways.
