Planning any adventures with your Ranger this year?

I've fished around boiling springs, there is a fly fishing only area downstream of the allenberry inn and above that is artificial lures only. The reg book gives very confusing boundries to the zones with crap like "fly fishing only within .5 miles downstream of the old tree george washington peed on to within 43 yards of where that old lady was murdered in 1804." I had the guys at the fly shop in boiling springs mark everything on a map for me about 10 years ago.

Better check again. They moved that tree a few years ago and added a clause about only fishing in water that is exactly 0.31964 fathoms deep.

One of these days I want to head down to Florida and fish for snakes head. They are hyper aggressive, hit on almost anything, super invasive so no limits on size or daily catch, and they are supposed to be good eating.
Lion fish have been introduced to the economy system down here near Apalachicola. They are very aggressive and good eating too. The problem is not too many people in the area knew how to cook them. A few chefs have started serving them. My home town, Marianna, FL, has the world record shellfish caught there, 6lbs. They avg around 2.5, IIRC. That's all I know about fishing. Lol, not really.

It is an adventure everytime I commute to work... you just don't know when you will be swallowed by a 4 bedroom 2.5 bath pothole or getting hit by some other commuter not paying attention to the road...

but as for the adventure that I would like to do (and probably will do) is the TRS round up in September.

smaller scale, probably a few camping trips later this spring and summer.

Yeah, the boundaries are vague and don't give good start/stop points, there is now no fishing dates, artificial lure only where you can't even have organic bait on you, and I usually have a jar of eggs in my bag, catch and release only dates, etc. Since I don't usually do trout anyway I have decided that it is just easier to stay out of that area with my pole.

I usually do Pinchot and Marburg. Marburg is a little big for my boat though, last summer I went out there for a day a with two fully charged batteries and almost paddled the last 1/2 mile to the dock.

I would really like to do the roundup but $$ this year is going to be very tight. Don't know how that will go.

Probably just beaches, camping at state parks as usual, backwoods camping, and road trips. Probably won't hit any offroad parks this year. I just got it running again... Don't want to break something so soon. My spring tower already needs rewelding. Lol

Not really for me. It's going to be parked a good portion of the summer since I'm going to be deployed. It's been a while since I've pretty much lost a summer, so I can't complain much. Hopefully, it will be a fairly dry summer this year so my brake rotors won't get trashed from rust.

Just wondering if anyone is planning any adventures with their Ranger this year? If so, when and where are you going?

I have a 1st gen.

Just getting to the store 4 blocks away is an adventure.

Its definatly adventrous with a 2.9.

Considering like all good hi-po racing engines its not well suited to short trips. But lay into it and by the time i make my 4 blocks ill be in 5th cresting 90mph. (y):sneaky:

Tommy Lee Jones talking about his Blackbird kinda is how I imagine you talking about Rusty 1.0 sitting in its field.

First gen Ranger, this is what an truck is supposed to be. She's ugly in the parking lot, leaks like a sieve, but up around 60, the seals all expand, she dries up, leans into the wind and drives like a bat out of hell. I took her right to the limit, 82mph.

Nailed it.

I have no response.

I have been thinking about taking my Ranger on a road trip somewhere but just don't know where yet. So far I have not had it passed 2 1/2 hours away from home yet.

Not with a Ranger but with my F150. I am going to road trip from Seattle to Michigan. My wife decided she could no longer handle my heath problems and found another guy so my bestie is coming up and road tripping with me. she has the whole summer off so we are just going to take our time and poke along the hwy with my bike on a trailer.
