planning a v8 swap

im planning a v8 swap in my 99 ranger i was wondering is its possible to use a mountaineer as a doner or does it have to be an explorer?

I am doing the same swap you want to do. I am using a 2000 moutaineer. The engine is in and everything is hooked up , i am only waiting on my trans. I got the advanced adapter for my transfer case, so i have a trans guy switchin the output shaft. Its a breeze.

sounds good then lol iv put two transmissions in my truck and both havent held up to my driving lol plus the 4.0 is getting a little tired but i was calling around cuz i didnt want to put another used trans in and the quotes i got for the rebuild were all around $2000 and a friend of mine is willing to part with his mountaineer for $1500 i think the v8 sounds like a bit more fun
