we are starting to get better at this off roading deal -but we are getting cocky as well and i can see the potential breakdowns coming as we think our skills are increasing but our equipment stays the same:icon_rofl: so i have read in more than a few places about dana 28 trail breakdowns ,if and when it breaks is it "fix it or tow it " or can it be rigged to drive home most times? the truck has already spent 1 night on the trail due to ign. module

All depends on what breaks.

A broken front axleshaft (or a hub) usually does not affect your ability to drive it in 2WD (though an exception is if the broken u-joint yoke binds up and causes the ball joints to pop apart).
A broken rear driveshaft can be removed so you can drive it in FWD.

However a broken output shaft on your tranny (and maybe on your t-case too) will result in you going nowhere. So will a hydrolocked motor. A broken steering linkage is something that's pretty hard to rig up on the trail as well, though it's often possible if you have a couple metal scraps and a welder on hand.
