I am running into some issues trying to get the engine in my Ranger. I have read that I need the Ford Racing oil filter kit to relocate the filter. But the mountaineer engine mounts are not going to work..I need to know which mounts I need to purchase and also which dual sump pan will work on the engine. Thanks in advance.

You are just going to have to use that motor and treat it as a Mustang motor for the mounts and oil pan. The mounts/pan just do['t in the pre '98' Rangers.

So any 5.0 mustang mounts and oil pan will work?

mine is a older ranger im not sure if its the same but i used regular 89 mustang mounts and a mustang dual sump oil pan .

I am using a 97 mountaineer 5.0...so I am thinking I can use 93-95 mustang motor mounts and the same year dual sump pan. Does that sound right?

Sounds good to go! Do you have the "P" heads or the GT-40 heads. Header selection not good for the "P" heads.

I ordered the double sump pan, pickup and oil filter relocation kit...crossing my fingers that will be all I need to finish my project! I will post pictures when I am done.

If you are using the Explorer/Mountainer front dress you will have to grind some clearance and modify the heater hose nipple. Finially found the pictures.

My engine as coil packs...and there is no need o do any grinding

I'm sorry, thought you were going with the Mustang computer and ignition system. Mixing the late Explorer wiring/computer into the earlier chassis can be a wiring nightmare. Just a warning!
