pitman arm


sorry........since you posted pitman arm in the "Introduce Yourself "Forum...............I thought you were letting us know about your new user-name.....

Check out the Technical Library or the Steering/Suspension Forums for reasons to change it.

It's to correct the geometry of your steering linkage in relation to your axle if you lift or lower the suspension's height. Otherwise poor handling and excessive tire wear is the result.

why would you have to change a pitman arm

pitman arms are part of your steering system that connects your steering box to the center link, and then on to the hub assemblies. If your steering has gotten sloppy your pitman arm may need replacement.

The pitman arm is the least likely thing to need replacement. It is not a wear item.
Sloppy steering would be much more likely to come from loose linkages, or a loose or worn steering gear.
