Misplaced the pinion shaft nut for a 7.5 ,but have a co worker that says he will give me the one thats on a damaged 8.8 rear end. Both of us are not sure if the nut will interchange???

anyone know?

A while back on here, DoorGunner had a post in which I believe he said that the pinion nuts shouldn't be re-used. He tried re-using his and almost dropped his drive shaft IIRC.

if you clean the threads very well in both the nut and on the pinion and then use red locktite i think youll be in business. that is IF theyre interchangeable? Idealy you want to use a new nut, but if one is not available then this is the next best choice?

Also broncograveyard.com has them along with anything else you might need. I played hell getting the nut off of my D35 pinion. Took a 3/4 impact gun to get the SOB off!

Aaah, reminds me of the first time I tried to get one off. Locked the parking brakes, got the big-ass 1/2" breaker bar. Struggled for an hour. Buddy comes by with the impact - BZZZZZZZRT - done. <facepalm>
