I posted here a while back about some engine noises I was experiencing. Thise noises sounded like a metalic rattling when under load and also sometimes a similar noise at idle. The idle noise led me to think that I indeed had internal engine issues, bearing, pin, or something. Well turns out it was carbon/possibly MAF caused noise all along.
Tonight, I first ran some water through the system, then a bunch of seafoam. I let the seafoam sit for 45 minutes while I took the MAF apart and found a small blob of something on one of the wires. I actually had to use a very very small brush and a big magnifying glass to clean it off. The spray just didn't have enough power to remove that sticky stuff. I then replaced the MAF, started her back up, sucked in the rest of the seafoam, hooked my booster line back up and then proceeded to fog the nieghborhood! Tons of smoke, even during the clearing drive.
Now, all the knock is gone! I've been driving her gently for a while now in order to avoid the noise, finally I can get back to normal.
Thanks to all on this site that have contributed thier stories about pinging/seafoam/MAF cleaning. Without all of the posts here to search, and the people to respond to the sometimes repetetive questions, we would not have such a vast collection of experiences to read through.
Thanks again,
Mike
P.S. yes I changed my oil, and yes I am doing the plugs in the morning
