I am swapping an 86 2.3t in for my naturally aspirated 2.3 and I plan on using the stock 5-speed which is not the T-5 from the t-bird. what do i do for a pilot bearing? does the one from the t-bird line up with the stock tranny, or does the stock pilot bearing fit in the new motor? Other than this the transmission should bolt right up to the new motor right? I just replaced the clutch in my current motor so i dont want to buy another just a bearing if i have to.

when I stuck my '86 2.3T into my '89 ranger with the mazda tranny I just left the pilot bearing in that was in there... they should be the same... I've put like 5K on it so far and no noise.

they use the same crank so if you are replacing the pilot (which i more than recommend doing while things are apart) just use the one for your ranger. Although they should be the same anyway.
