Picture Request! 3rd gen 31 in tires

Hey everyone, I currently have a 94 2wd 3rd gen Ranger with a 3 inch body lift and a 6 inch sky jacker lift. I have 33 in tires on it now, but was thinking to dropping it back down to 31 in tires. Does anyone have pics of a 2wd with about that much lift with 31 in tires. Or does anyone think it will look stupid. I have a pic of it now if it will help.

This is the best pic of it where its on fairly level ground.

I'm afraid those 2 inches will be really noticeable.
here it is with 30 in and just the 6 in. I thought that looked ok, so I'm hoping it will look similar to this with 31s?

Looks pretty good the way it is, why do you want to lower it. I take it you're planning on removing the body lift?

I'll post some pics of my gen 3 in a little bit for you if it helps. It has a 4"RC lift on it with 6" SJ coils. 33" meats too!

i like it the way it is. i thought 31s look almost the same as stock. are the tires wearing and you need to get new ones? is that your reason?

Well getting 12-14 MPG is really starting to suck and with working about 30 miles from home, its killing me having to fill up atleast every 4-5 days. I was hoping by getting rid of the 33x1250 and 1050's and making them all 31x1050's will be less weight, but most of all help the gearing so I don't have to swap in 5.18's and can leave my 4.56. But it looks like it may cost the same to finally do an 8.8 swap and put 5.18's in that since I was looking for new rims and tires and its going to be hard to do that for under $1000, and with the 8.8 i can get 4 wheel disc and posi (and a rear that will hold up to a 351w eventually) but I'm not sure exactly how to do the swap without just letting someone else do it and that being more $$. But I'm sure with everyones help here and my dad's it could be done. No mobile shed here!! I think there was a pair of wire cutters back there for a week haha, thats about all that has stayed in the "shed"

Thats a nice looking truck. I really like that clean look and love black. Whats your modified intake? I have a short intake for mine, but it just seems to hurt more than help, even with a modified MAF and a jet chip. However, I just put new coils, wires and plugs on mine, and the old ones were a little white like it is running lean. I guess i should post about that in the engine form though.

Well I wanted smaller mainly for the gearing, I remember the 4.56 with 30's it was like a rocket and would stay at highway speeds in 5th and got 300 around 1/4 tank, now I'm lucky to get 200. not really concerned about the weight, I have 1250s on the back and 1050's on the front for steering.

I get GOOD mileage in mine the way it sits right now. When I have a half a tank or over it seems like it takes forever to get down to 1/4 tank. I'm getting 25 mpg's all day with this setup. I want to go bigger though.

I won't though unless I do another gear swap to 5.13's. Then I'll go with 33's first and if all is good, 35's. I'm looking at acquiring parts as we speak. I noticed you have the overpowered 2.3 as well. With these motors "WE" need gearing cause displacement just 'aint there you know?

BTW: my plugs were a little white as well. They were Autolite Platinums.

leave the truck as it is, take $1,000-$1,500 out of savings and buy a decent mid 90's 4 banger car (i know, i know, but hear me out). it'll get 35MPG, which considering your 12MPG and...lets say $3.40 a gallon (supposed to be higher by the end of summer)....the car will pay for itself in just under 8,000 miles. the higher gas prices go, the faster it'll pay for itself.

things ive learned from owning a beater front-wheel drive car:

they are cheaper than dirt to own. i put a set of 4 tires on my escort for under $200.

maintainence is zilch compared to a truck (there are half as many seals to leak, for example). and the FWD platform is so SIMPLE.

they are tough. again, having everything all in one unit means theres just not much to go wrong.

they are (dare i say) fun to drive...especially if you get a 5 speed.

this will let you leave your truck jacked up for the "cool" factor. plus when it comes time to do a v-8 swap, you will have something else to drive, A: while the truck is down for the actual swap and B: after the swap when your 12MPG goes down to 8

That has always been an idea of mine too. I would like to some how acquire my grandparents 89 civic that only has 30k on it and gets 30+ MPG with a lead foot, and yes it can be fun to drive, like a big go-kart haha and it sure makes my truck feel alot bigger after driving it for a while.

I second that. I bought a 93 Escort wagon to drive to school everyday for $600, it runs solid as hell, only costs about $30 to fill up (@$3.20), and I only need to fill it up at most every week. The tires are cheap, he's right. I got four Dunlop 45K tires for like $160. Saves me a lot of money on gas. Plus, my truck is a dog to drive to school on the highway.
