Got bored on my lunch, so i jumped in the truck and went to the observation area at work to take some pics. Heres where i work. Its the world's largest open faced granite quarry located in Mt. Airy, NC (better known as Mayberry from The Andy Griffith Show). NC Granite Corp. (my company) has been getting granite continuously out of this quarry since 1889 without interruption. There is enough granite there to last another 600 years or more ast the rate we cut at. We only cut and AVERAGE of 1" a year off the top. It goes down a couple of miles and is quite a few acres. here is the history http://www.surry.k12.nc.us/mtrail/quarry.htm. We have provided granite for such things such as WWII memorial, Wright Brothers Memorial, most granite curbing in new England states, etc....and many more i dont kow about! I am a draftsman there. i draw out the stone for fabrication.

One of the waterjets cutting granite blocks out! this thing has some crazy PSI!! it has to use ruby (I think) tips as they are the only things that can stand up to the pressure!

Why must you break so many laws? It's worth it to do things the right way.:icon_idea:

OP. Good looking truck man. It's always nice to see someone take care of their rig.

we arent really breaking any laws. mostly we are just out of bounds on the surveys which pisses off the state inspectors.
now if only the state didnt break its own laws so much

You essencially have the truck that I want...except I want 4dr. I'd do all the factory chrome options(basically all I want arethe steps and the mirrors)...then my lift andwheels andtires, then I'm done! lol.

Gota do what you gota do I guess. The state of Washington doesn't mess around with things like that. Our form of OSHA "WISHA" came through and gave us fines for lanyards and harnesses missing a stitch or two, and not having chains on our docks along with a laundry list of other miniscule violations. Gave us no leeway at all. Needless to say, we play by the rules now.

Sorry for the thread jack Dixi

well here at the quarry, we have to deal with OSHA and MSHA (Mine Saftey) MSHA is like ten times as bad as OSHA! they have so may rules, its hard not to break one! plus the cheapest fine is like 112 dollars i think, the most bieng $250,000. and if you break ANY rules, its a fine! also, if you lie to an MSHA inspector, they can and have the right to throw you in jail for 5 years! But if they ask you anything, you hav the right not to speak...

i thought the inspectors that complained about motor oil in a dead pushmower were bad
