Pics of my project

Thanks guys! I'm hoping to get the engine back in it this week. I just picked up a box that's in better shape than the one on it. I'm going to raise the whole bed floor and do it nice.

RDR, I've had the truck for years and I got it for basically nothing. So that's just parts and stuff.

then that is not to bad, cheaper then buying a new one.

when i said 'thats going to hurt later' i was refering to how tight of a fit the heater box/fender clearance was and that it looked like it would be hard as hell to get the heater box and blower motor back out if you needed to, i didnt mean to sound like i didnt like the fenders. thats pretty funny that you tasered a guy in the ass, thats gotta hurt like hell!

Yeah when I welded it in, I thought it was there to stay. I had no idea that the half inch or so of clearence would be enough to wiggle that box out of there! I was just glad to get it out so I could do a better job on it.

Here's some pics of my newest finds..

The tailgate is in great shape. I wish it didn't have that alum piece tho..

The bed has a few dents in it but nothing around the wheel wells and there is no rust except where someone started to sand it down and left it. There was a dent that was filled with bondo. I sanded all the filler out and used my hammer and dolly and worked the dent out. The old filler smelled like cow crap bad.

hey tom, that alum filler panel comes off and under most of them there was the raised letter ford logo, all u would have to do is fill the holes for the clips and screws and ud have an awesome lookin gate

Diddo.

Just remove the 6 or 8 torx (I think) bolts from the inside of the tailgate and voila!! No more alum. piece and you have nice raised factory FORD letters. :icon_thumby:

BTW, good thing that the guy went down like he did. It could've gotten a lot worse!!

Yeah thanks guys! I'm going to pull that alum piece off and fill the holes. I like the look with FORD showing on the gate.

awesome work tom, looks great, cant wait to see it finished-again

-nice build. just read thru the entire thread. great workmanship.

Haha funny. I was tellin my wife that the truck was going to the paint shop as soon as I get it running. She was like IT DID RUN UNTIL YOU TOOK IT APART AGAIN! LMAO!!

thats sweet! i never would have thought about doing that, it looks so clean!

Thanks guys. It's alot of work but it's fun when things go well. Sucks bad when they don't but I think I'm making progress now.

Once it's all welded up, I'm going to sand blast the entire bed and start smoothing it out. It should look real good once it's all painted.
