Yeah, after I make sure we're all set and ready..that's the next step. I have a spare motor found in order to nab the exhaust manifold (just in case) as this one will have to be modified/cut to mount a turbo. I'm thinking of using an old Mercedes 240d turbocharger for it.

Word has it that 4-5 lbs of boost is all we want to give it, but that it is enough boost to push these suckers over the hills :icon_thumby:

while its out of truck I would seriously think about doing the bottom end as I recall years ago my brother put a fresh set of heads on a engine & a few months latter had to rebuild the engine because the bottom end wasnt able to handle the fresh top end pressure from new heads

rattleranger i would be worried about putting a turbo on it since it already had alot of miles and i have heard if you put a turbo on a diesel with alot of miles it could mess up the motor but im not to sure cause on our f250 diesel they told us not to put a turbo on cause of that reason

awwww its a cute lil fellar....:D

pop some standard bearings in it at least if you plan to push air though it.

That thing is sweet if I could get my hands on one I would. A sas'd diesel ranger. Hmmm:icon_idea:

yeah....i would love an sas diesel ranger.

someday:D

I've only seen one factory diesel ranger in person but that was years ago.

Darn!! Diesel fuel is up there in price again. I don't want no stinking diesel....lol

My Grandpa had a blue one just like yours, with the same topper. Bought it new in 83 and put almost 200k on it, then the Northern Wisconsin rust started to destroy it. He sold it in the mid 2000's for 350 bucks, it needed brakes, a new gas tank and a few other rust related issues, but the engine ran great. It was the basic ford, no a/c, 4spd and the diesel engine. He used it for just about everything from the farm to road trips. (went to California and Yellowstone several times)
