One day I will have onboard air, cause I think it is wicked cool.
Step 1: get a compresser. (one Viair 400, check!)
Step 2: Get tank. (check!)

Step 3: put compresser and tank in rig. (hmmmm)

It appears I have some poorly designed exhaust in the way. I plan on getting that doctored tommorow.

Once exhaust is out of the way I can mount this badboy then find somewhere cool to put the compressor...

from just reading the title i assumed you farted and wanted to share it with us......

anywho....the tank wont get in the way of the axle or drive shaft with mad flexitation? (i was in hooked on fonics class with G-Dubya)

clack-clank-rattle-clack-clank.....ptssssss.

Woot! Engine driven compressor, oh ya...lol

Heh, the tank I have looks just like that, I got it from the diesel shop a couple years ago and still haven't hooked it up yet.

Unless you have a dual cardan driveshaft your pinion angle looks fawked

Tank-to-axle interferece is a big concern of mine, once I get the exhaust changed and position the tank more-or-less over the pinion flange I dont think I will have a problem, but, we will see!

What you and I both have is a auxillary air tank off a semi truck. Handi-dandy!

And about the driveshaft angle, I knew someone was going to say something... Because of the alleged harmonic dis-balance or some other black magic. Me and my driveshaft are fine and fine. I do appreciate the concern, but it has not given me any trouble and when I swap im my 8.8 I more-or-less plan to duplicate what I have there.....

I plan on using the LandCruiser's smog pump for on-board air

:pray::pray:

Fair enough, not what I had in mind when I said that, but fair enough.
Walstrom showed a gear drive truck compressor bolted onto a diesel. I already explored the option of trying to rig that, no luck. I also explored the option of rigging up my AC compressor that came on the Lincoln as a air compressor, that was not a successful venture, and I was not 100% sure that that compressor was up to the job.

I seriously need to get my hands on the mustang accessories package and mounts for the front of the engine. This would allow me to change some stuff under the hood in a really good way. This would also allow me to run a AC compressor, either a screw type or a York.

So, for the above listed reasons I am going to take a stab at rigging up this Viair electric jobber.

I sure hope you are not going to mount that tank above the axle center or the drive shaft. Talk about hitting when you flex.

That's what I was thinkin....

Why not in the back of the BII?

That location looks hazardous...

You guys worry too much, lol. The pics I took are just to help me keep my brain imagining what I might do. The tank will be more up and at a significatly different orientation.

I AM planning to mount it above the axle. There is 12" between the top of my diff and the floor. It is a 8" dia tank. That leaves approx 4 inches of up travel before problems occur. That is if the axle was to go straight up. My shocks will only allow 4" more straight up travel, even when I experience 'mad flex' I have not even threatened nearing the end of my shocks on the rear. And, I'm not planning to mount the tank above the tallest point on the diff, as I said before, it will be mostly above the pinon flange. Have no fear, i'm not fussing with your truck, lol.

As for the 'in the back option', that sounds like a smart idea, but that space is already occupied with more important things. Like 150' of spare cable, chains, tools, chainsaw, shovel, boots, fuel, oil, cooler, first aid, fire extinguisher, etc, etc, etc. It's going to be a challenge to find a good place to mount the (9" x 7" x 4") electric compressor somewhere where it can effective cool!

Mount the compressor under the hood.

I agree.

And with the Tank, yeah, the back is a little full....

Why not cut out a section of your interior above the rear quarter and put the tank in there? There is some unused space right, and that tank would probably be pretty close to fitting tightly, and it would be out of the way of the interior, and not in a hazardous location:icon_thumby:

I really don't like that above the Axle............

Edit: Or, under the rear seats, like how Junkie did his dual batteries....
