Damn Ricers! there takin over my neighborhood, Its seems as if every street that I turn down, there always a riced out Honda Civic with a big ass exhaust tip racing past me with that awfully annoyin' pissed off hornet sound. There r in my turf, and im sick of pullin up to every stoplight, and having a ricer try to race me. I need to do some performance mods to my 3.0 L Ranger XLT, so I can race a riced out Honda Civic, and whup his ass by a country mile. Now, im gonna put it out there that I don't have very much money, because I already got a new dual exhaust system and a subwoofer system. All I really have is roughly $1200 left for my spending money. I already know that I can't afford to buy a turbo or a supercharger, but im pretty sure I can get some performance parts that will make my truck fast enough to be able to race a ricer and win. What kind of performance parts should I get? Like I already know there are exhaust systems and cold air intakes that supposably make u gain little amounts of horsepower, but thats about all I know. Do any of ya'll guys know wat I should do? It makes me sick seein all of these Hondas with big ass exhaust tips runnin around my hood, but then again, im probably the only redneck in my part of town. Help me out guys, throw me a bone.

set up a 75hp dry nitrous kit for about $600 new or you could buy a used kit.that is the only way i can think of to pick up alot of cheap HP.

Forget about cold air intakes and exhaust.....

Consider things like forced induction, internal engine mods, nitrous, gearing..etc.

In other words...$$$$$$$

If you're serious about spending that $1200 all on performance stuff, here's what I'd do:

UDPs
camshaft*
roller rockers
intake work (DIY or off-the-shelf)
headers

*Choosing the right cam involves consideration of your gear ratio, among other things. Make sure you look at the bigger picture (current and future mods, what you want to use the truck for, etc.) and consult an expert before picking out a cam.

Other things you may want to consider would be rear axle gearing (steeper ratio) and an electric fan.

Well what about a JET Performance Programmer, it says that tht it'll add on an average of 22-29 horsepower. Its only like $350.00 and it supposably take off my damn governor. I was thinking about a cam too. I dont know about nitrous, thats a little bit "2 Fast 2 Furious" for me. I already have a dual exhaust system with 2.5 inch pipes and a Flowmaster Original 40 series muffler, that itself seemed to add a little bit of power, I can tell the difference. But i need more power. Is there anything else that I can do to add sum much needed horsepower, and torque, cause i also need it for towing a 14 ft jon boat to and from the lake. lol. Forced Induction is turbo's, and I dont have enough money for a turbo. nor a supercharger.

Yeah that is a great site, you will find some useful stuff in there.

NOS, regear or smaller tires.

22-29 hp from a chip:icon_rofl:
you worried about being able to beat imports is a little to "fast and furious" what exactly do you expect to get for $1200?

polish and port intake's and exhaust manifold .... guess what its free!! lol

NOS is not what you want to use it can seriously hurt your engine

go with components that will be easy but will give you results.

change intake and exhaust valving to titanium or ciramic
with lighter springs and solid tappits(can get off 5.0 mustang) with roller rokers
but that could get a little pricey but you just have to phone around.

but could also try and see if a engine shop can mill a couple thousanths off your heads and deck for more compression which = more power

or just plug in 5.0 injectors

I agree with this statemant but thats about where it ends

Monitoring is key, NOS leans out the mixture, caution and common sense are key to not damaging the engine.

Like a tornado?!?!?:D

Titanium Valves are atleast 100 bucks a piece if you can even find them for a 3.0, they are also a waste of time and money unless your turning like 9000RPM.
And yes, ive seen the dyno sheets to prove it(on a SBC)

1.7 Roller Rockers would help though

but could also try and see if a engine shop can mill a couple thousanths off your heads and deck for more compression which = more power

Good idea but i wouldnt pull a set of head just for that

And lastly

or just plug in 5.0 injectors

Ever heard of air-to-fuel ratios???
its not a diesel!!!!

i know about air/fuel but things can be tuned

custom ram air can be done and (i can be wrong but) 5.0 throddle body can be put on.

but hey im no expert on the 3.0 im learning myself

and my statement on NOS is stricly a dislike lol

why is it only people that know nothing about nitrous don't like it, and have it in there head that if they use it they will automaticly blow up there motor.

Because they hang out with some kid who also knows nothing about it, and that kid screws with it and blows up his dad's car and gets grounded for life. :icon_thumby:
