Dynomax 2.5" single exit exhaust. I like mine because I don't have that loud obnoxious drone when I tow. Also, stay away from superchips. You'll get an 87 octane performance tune... no higher octane tunes. For the same price you can get a custom tuned SCT X3. Search the forums for "programmer". What kind of intake do you have? The only intake that the tuners I talk to recommend is the Volant. All the other brands come with a stupid "heat shield" that doesn't do much.

Oh, and those same tuners claimed that the volant intake and exhaust will only help the high range of the powerband. In other words, its only working when you mash the gas.

I have 2.5" with a flowmaster 40 on it and it sounds pretty good. Apaprently the old guy in my building with a first gen ranger thought it was a v-8... makes me wonder whats under the hood of HIS ranger.....

I'd go with a Dynomax Ultra Flo Oval or a Magnaflow. Both are a little louder than stock, but flow very well. Cherry Bomb came out with a muffler a few years ago called the Vortex that mixes both glasspacks, turbo, and chamber mufflers into one that anialiates the flowbench compared to all other muffs. I've been wanting to try one. Get it all custom bent up at an exahust shop is cheapest and best and easiest IMO.

x2 on a closed intake box. Volant is your only option...unless you find yourself a SLP/Roush Thunderbolt Box.

x3 on Volant, i am taking my airaid off this spring in favor of one. to tell ya the truth, i have not had any issues with it being a mostly open element, however i have been protecting that side of the truck.

also i am running a Gibson on my truck, and i kinda like the note. its not going to make it distinctively different than a standard v-6 note, but it just sounds better. check em out on youtube.

I third the Dynomax super turbo. I just put one on my truck last week and it definitely is quieter than my muffler that rusted 2 pieces, but I think it is slightly louder than stock.

Dont change the exhaust, it lowers MPG. If you want an mpg or two really quick and for under $50 just get a factory replacement K&N filter. I put my factory exhaust back on.

headers/dual exhausts/dual cats/2006 Harley Davidson mufflers(gutted) at the bumper.....

just the filter wont do crap. a cai would do more than just the filter.

switching to synthetic oils in the engine, transmission, t-case and rear/front axle would do more.
