Performance cams for 4.0 OHV

I was thinking about installing one of the two available grinds from Comp Cams in my truck along with some other upgrades. The only thing that keeps me from doing it is the increased valvetrain wear. I know to install the suggested springs and make some minor head port improvements. What I dont know is where to get better rocker arms. I've been lucky through good maintainence in that my valvetrain is still tight and silent even at 119k. So what do y'all think about a bigger cam given the fact that our 4.0 engines already tend to beat up the rocker arms anyway? These cams are about .120" bigger on valve lift than stock. I know that cam performance is more about duration than lift, but I just want a recommendation based on possible valvetrain wear issues. Thanks--Josh

Take a look at www.deltacam.com. Find their email and send them a note. The guys will usually answer in a day. They do several things. They regrind stock cams to mild to wild lifts. Regardless what you may have heard - there is nothing wrong with a reground cam. Delta also flame hardens pushrods, the end of the rocker arms and installs a stainless insert in the pushrod side of the rocker. These are all good things - and cheaper than roller rockers etc. All of their products are relatively inexpensive.

I gotta say too, I installed Delta's version of Comp Cams "410" cam. It worked great I put their new rocker arm assy on as well and I haven't had any problems 40,000 miles later. Good Stuff
