"PCKNPLL" BUILD THREAD! NA @ 180hp!

I wouldn't bother with those rims. I have never been a huge fan of multi-pattern wheels. They just never seem to ride right to me.

Thanks for your input... I HATE chrome anyways, as you can tell from my truck NOW! lol

I still need to finish filling the holes from the Debadge aand then move on to the primering BLACK of the whole truck! That said, if I did wanna ride the "Bling Bling" 16's, I could ALWAYS can em down or plastidip them for next to NOTHING!

We'll see what happens... I'm not too worried about wheels right now anyhow, until I get my 6-5(+-) drop and all 4 shoxx installed!

So.... I didn't have time to catch a daylight shot of the tinted tails! All good though, they're still glowing GREAT in pitch black, so I know its a LIGHT tint. JUST what I wanted... And me covering the reverse lights didn't make it look "weird" or anything. Just MORE "professional"!

Here's the nighttime photos...

Regular running lights...

I always seem to spray tint way too heavY...I think this time I hit it on the head!

HERE'S MY "BUILD THREAD LIST", THAT I'LL BE ORDERING SOON! IF ANYONE HAS ANY INPUT, SHOOT!

Here's EVERYTHING I'm grabbing for the SCREAMING Ranger! This doesn't include suspension, fuel, OR transmission "junk" (IE: Lightened flywheel, better Clutch, Holley 350 Carb.) I will have a 4.10 rearend from an Explorer or 4wd Ranger as well!

180-200hp NA 2.3L Ford "Lima" Build w/ 1988 Mustang Block n' Head....

BLOCK:
- Sealed Power - Speed-Pro Hypereutectic Pistons (.030 over Flattops w/ valve reliefs)
- ARP 151-6002 - ARP High Performance Series Connecting Rod Bolt Kits
- ARP 151-4702 - ARP Pro Series Cylinder Head Stud Kits
-Cometic C5369-040 - Cometic Head Gaskets

HEAD:
- Cam, and followers from a 1989 - 1994 2.3L Ford Mustang/Ranger
- "NEED HP" Ford 2.3 Round Tooth Pulley Conversion Kit
- "NEED HP" Underdrive Pulley Kit (MAYBE!)
- Bigger valves
- 7 degree valve locks
- Chrome moly retainers
- Dual valve springs so it rev without floating the valves

"The head will need to be machined for the bigger valves, and the dual valve springs, any good machine shop that does race engines should have no problems doing the needed work. All that should keep the valve train happy. When the engine is done I should be able to surprise some people with it!"

^ that is what im told!

Here's the finished pics of paint job (getting rid of CHROME!!!) and painting the wheels black as well... I'm not too worried about looks, other than a rollpan and the OBVIOUS drop/wheels. It's a Ratrod feel! Straight SLEEPER!

Well atleast I'm finding a few "fun" things to do to the truck!

All that chrome covered black, the tinted tails, blacked out wheels and now the front blinkers are making me think of a flat black murdered out scheme!

Would look RIGHT with the windows tinted, some bucket seats, Hurst short throw shifter (performance as well!) and flatblacking the ENTIRE truck. (Gotta get that rollpan as well!)

Sorry, it got dark on me, so they look kind of dark... They're VERY lightly tinted, like my tails!

EVERYTHING IS COMING ALONG SMOOTHLY ON THIS TRUCK SO FAR! I'VE HAD A LOT OF HELP AS WELL THOUGH, MUCH APPRECIATED - TO EVERYONE!!!

I noticed in your first post the pic of the intake side of the head , 2nd to last picture. The intake gasket that is still on the head, it's for an early oval port head ( 1974-1981 or so) . If that was the intake gasket on the motor when you bought it, it's the wrong gasket. That motor has been apart before.

It also appears you port matched using that early oval port gasket. Bad idea. The D Port head won't respond well to it, nor will the intake. You'll probably hit a water jacket while porting.

I'd look for a new "D-Port" head and intake, or better yet, a 1983-84 Ranger round port 2.3 head (not the 2.0 variant) and intake and start over .

Take a look at the turboford forums for head info on what can be ported and some flow numbers.

Third, gook luck finding the right gasket these days. Most rebuild kits come with the oval port because it fits both.

Third, gook luck finding the right gasket these days. Most rebuild kits come with the oval port because it fits both.

I've already found a new gasket set that'll fit @ my Local Auto Store AT THAT! But they literally have EVERYTHING! (BAPGEON).

Yea, I could tell it had been taken apart before... Not a real big biggy !

I'll have the Esslinger Intake matched to it, along with a 2bbl 350 Holley, and the head will be gone over and WORKED to what I BUY FOR IT! From the dual valve springs to the 7 degree Molly retainers. No one is touching the head until my "racing" machine shop, has a look at EVERYTHING (BLOCK TO INTAKE MANI TO EXHAUST!) and then I'll be going with what THEY say to do. Since they build these motors for the local mini-stock cars on a pretty much DAILY basis!
