PayPal sucks

My problem with PP is that they now require a physical address. I don't have one as I live in an RV and have a PO Box #. I've been arguing with them for weeks, provided my bank statement and Canadian government issued drivers license that has the PO Box as my address. I'm not sure why they would need a physical address. They claim security. I call BS. Last chat they said the pics of DL and bank statement would be reviewed by Thursday this week. I guess I'll see...

Do they really? because I have a PayPal account and I don’t even have it verified or whatever extra level super up my ass bullshit they have. I can’t send money from my PayPal account to another PayPal account, but I can take money from my bank and send it to another PayPal account. Works for me.

I dropped PayPal a while ago because of their policies. I've yet to not been able to buy things without it. Sometimes it just takes longer because I had to send a certified check or some other payment method.

A year or two after I started using PayPal with my credit card, I got a notice that they would cancel may account if I did not give them information on a bank account. I was and am not willing to give them any back account information and just waited for them to cancel my account. That was at least ten years ago, and I still have a PayPal account and use it all the time for online purchases. It is another layer of protection.

I used to use PayPal to transfer money but did not like having to pay to do it. Then I discovered Zelle. It is an easy no-charge way to transfer money, but the receiving party must also have an Zelle account. I like using eChecks for payments also but have a separate bank account for that. I keep a small balance in that account, so no one has access to my other account that has a larger sum of money in it.

As far as security goes, I can’t speak to other CC companies, but American Express has excellent customer service.

I can think of maybe three times in the past 10 or 15 years, including a few weeks ago. Called, said I don’t recognize these charges, some odd, small dollar amount small purchases. They said they would investigate it, and next day air early am shipped me a new card.

They turned the card off, but we’re able to keep it active for in person purchases since I still physically had the card.

Most places accept American Express now anyway so even that is not really an issue anymore.
