So heres the story/problem, when I drove my 98 ranger out of the driveway I turn the wheel all the way to the right. As I go I straighten out the wheel, it starts pulling to the right, so I turn it left then the wheel wants to keep pulling left. I fight the wheel back and forth to keep it straight for about 30 seconds, then I hear a clunk and it stops fighting me. Then I can drive normally. So I stopped and checked the hubs and i see the passenger hub popped off (their auto locking hubs that i modified to become manual). So I push it back into its place and keep going. Everytime i turn the wheel all the way on either side it does this:icon_confused:. Does anyone know whats going on or have a solution? Thanks

I am not sure with your year of truck but sound like your bearing are loose or going bad or the clip on the hubs itself are worn out or broken.... How did you convert them to manual hubs?????

CV joint binding perhaps?

i was wondering if it had anything to do with the CV. what exactly is happening when a cv joint is binding? is there anything way to see if thats the problem?

Also the passenger CV axle boot is leaking. Would this cause damaged or make it want to pop out my hub?

well it has been awhile since anyone has posted on this thread, i just wanted to tell everyone, in case you have the same problem, that it was my cv axle binding up and popping out my hub due to the leak from my cv boot.

Hah...I was right.:icon_twisted:

CV joint binding? Ahhhh... No.

Just No.

Explaining why seems to me like a waste of time.

The '98-00 hub system really dislikes driveshaft windup.
