Hi everyone...
So here is my question...I have a 97 ranger xlt, 4.0 L ,2 wd.5 speed standard. The tranny is pretty well done. Sticks in 4th,wont go into 2nd sometimes.Makes bad noises etc. So, i found another 97 xlt 4.0 online. Its a 4x4 xlt,5 speed std, reg cab.My plan is to take any good parts off the 2wd and save them for the 4x4 (which has a much better body and has been mercilessly undercoated). Im wondering if i should keep the motor from the 2wd. Will it swap in easily? Wiring etc? Its my understanding that some things changed in 97 and i dont want to strip off parts that arent going to fit.The carcass will be going to the scrapper. Im planning on keeping as many parts as possible including the front and rear lights, alt, battery, starter, rad, power steering pump and anything else that looks good. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks...

So 60 ppl read this and no one responded. Did i say something wrong?

motor will swap, all of the accessories driven by the motor will swap, rad will swap, most of the wiring harness should be the same, fuel tanks and pumps should be similar, all of the interior and body parts will swap as well

Thank you very much for the response and for the info. I appreciate it.I know it may seem like a silly question but someone told me at one point that there were changes to the ranger in 97. Also if you look at them side by side, there are subtle differences aside from the fact that one is 4x4 and the other isnt. Signal lights (yellow vs clear) and plastic fender flares on the 4x4.These are cosmetic i know, but could have been indicative of other changes and i wanted to ask someone more informed. Again thanks for the help...
