Im heading to a scrap yard tomorrow to pick up my clutch pedal I am doing an auto to manual swap. my donor truck was an 1989 ranger my project is an 1988 Bronco 2 I Have been told that I need to get an ecm for a manual trans will and ecm from a 1986 with manual shift work for my 88 with electronic shift??

In the 80s the engine computer doesn't give two sh!ts about how the 4x4 is shifted (I assume your "manual shift vs electronic shift" refers to the 4x4, you were less than specific on that point).

Your bigger problem in putting an 86 computer in anything 88 or newer is changes to the emissions system. The 2.9 lost it's EGR and knock sensor in 1988 and so an earlier computer will be quite unhappy about them being missing. Look for an 88 to 92 computer.

The engine wiring for the 89 donor that I have looks alot different then the 88 engine wiring in my bronco you don't think there will be issues with that?? And yes I was referring to the 4x4 in my first post

Oh yeah, the engine bay harness is drastically different in form beginning in 1989. In function it is identical to the 88 stuff.

If you just want a computer you don't need to worry about the wires. If you want a wire harness you have a lot of work to make an 89 harness work in an 88.

No this is my daily driver so I don't feel like pussing around with a whole wiring harness thanks for you help. How does the manual shift 4x4 work with the auto hubs do you know??

Those early auto hubs are mechanically actuated. There is a spring-loaded toothed cam, kinda looks like the thing on top of a click top pen, and when the axle shaft starts rotating it locks into an opposite piece and locks the hub in.
