Ive been having an issue where at about 1600-1800RPM and the middle third of throttle position, Im having a hesitation problem. The first third is fine and if you put your foot into it, it clears up. Also above 2k, there is no problem, even in the middle third.

Ive changed the TPS, swapped MAF sensors, changed the plugs and plus wires, and even the ECU, the CLT and IAT are both new, checked for vacuum leaks. I dont think it has anything to do with the SOHC because it ran fine for a couple months, then I let it sit for a month, fired it up, and its done this ever since. Its really annoying having this thing almost crap on you leaving a stop light. Ive been racking myself over this for a couple months.

Anybody had this issue on their EEC-IV 4.0's???

I'd be looking at the TPS and the CPS and then maybe the IAC..
Sounds like the engine does'nt know how to set the timing or maybe when to richen the mixture. It is prolly being lied to by one of them sensors.

Im going to try and change the EDIS module tomorrow, and see if that helps anything... I dont think its the TPS or the IAC (TPS is brand new with the same symptoms, IAC holds idle fine) Its a possibility its the CPS, but being a magnent pointed at a wheel, I dont think so, the symptoms are a little bit too elaborate for that. At this point im betting on ignition, so thats where im going to start...

i have almost the same thing happen to me and i have 94 4.0 5speed and it will hesitate on like the highway, and sometimes taking off, its a real bitch sometimes but if i down sift to the lower gear its fine but if i go back to that gear it hesitates again

GOt it too. It's been doing it for about 2 years now and is driving me nuckin' futs. Lately I have been leaning more towards a Torque Converter.
