I have noticed that when the weather is really cold like single digits and lower that the parking break will stick. I release the breaks and have to rock foward or reverse and they pop loose??? I haven't taken a look yet, anyone else run into this. In the spring the truck will get new breaks all around and I want to redo the drums completely wheel cylinders and all. I'm thinkin' that moisture is getting in there and freeze pretty rapidly after I park the truck. I only bring it up cause it makes a got-darn terrible noise when it pops loose.

You're probably getting moisture in the drums and when you set the parking brake, the shoes are actually freezing to the drum!!! And the only way to unstick them is to do exactly what you're doing, rocking the truck back and forth to break them free..... Hope this helps!!!!

I agree w/ him. I had a car that did that too but with disc breaks. I wouldn't worry about it too much until the next time you pull the wheels to inspect the brakes. If you can try to lube up the moving parts in those drums. That should fix it.

Thanks for the advice. Heck I bet the rear drums haven't been serviced for the life of the truck.
