Ever since I did my 8.8 swap I never had my parking brake hooked up because I never need it. My brother in law tried to use it the other day and now the lever is stuck in the down position. I drove it like that fine for a day but this morning my brake light came on. I'd imagine because the lever is engaged. How can I release it?

This may seem like a stupid question but have you tried the release handle? If that doesn't work it may be stuck and you have to get down there with a flashlight and figure out what is making it stick. Good luck.

pull up on the pedal while you pull on the release, if that doesn't work, get underneath and pull on the cable while you pull the release. I haven't hooked up my parking brake since I put the 8.8 in either and just leave the pedal down so it doesn't get in the way...

I put a '93 F-150 8.8 in my Ranger and I hooked up the parking brake. It took about 20 minutes and it cost me $2 to extend it and I used my stock 7.5 parking brake cables. Why not just hook up the parking brake? I use boat ramps and I feel much better with a parking brake. Either way good luck!

I got it. Was just jammed down. I'll probably hook it up in the near future

Are the cables attached to the arm in the backing plates on the axle?
