I looked through the old posts, and didn't see anything that might cover this. I'm looking to replace my parking brake cables this weekend. I've noticed that for my truck, 125" W/B with the 10" brakes, that the Left Rear cable is the most expensive cable. Now, they have a cable listed for the 9” brakes that seems to be cheaper.

My question is: What’s the difference in the two cables, and is there a good reason that I can’t use the 9” cable on the 10” brakes? I’m sure there is a good reason, but I would hate to find out after spending the money on the cable, that I could have saved money by using the other cable.

The little fitting on the end is different IIRC. I will try to take a a look later today. I have a brand new 10" brake cable that needs to go into my 98 and i have an axle with 9' brakes. Ill take some pics too.

I went and looked at it as best I could after fighting the drum off of my rusty axle. They looked the same.

The left and right cables are different lengths.

Try getting both cables and if you can use the cheaper one, return the other one. If you cant, return the other one.
