Anyone know how to remove it on a 97 ranger.? I need to drill a hole in the floor and the pedal is in the way. It doesn't look like it simply unbolts.

Why are you drilling a hole in the floor??

There should be spots in the firewall for running upfit wires.

Didn't see any that would work. I have 2 runs of 1/0 and will be doing another two runs down the road. I actually already drilled the holes for my 7/8" snap grommets but I had to drill the top hole at an angle. After filing down the sharp inside lip my grommet slides through. It's alright for now but I want to remove the brake pedal and bore out the hole a little bigger so I can use these.

If that's the case why didn't you run them along the chassis, then up through the floor near where they need to be...?

Are you planning on leaving the pedal assembly off? I would think the pedal, if used, would get into the wires. The bracket is the lower left mount for the dash assembly, if removed you will need to fab a mount to hold the dash from moving.

Sorry, can't remember how it comes off, I know I did mine when I had the dash out. IIRC, there was only 3-4 bolts that hold it in.
Dunno if maybe this pic will help, that's all I got...

I don't want to run the wires along the frame rail. I did that in my last truck and I just feel the install is a lot cleaner when you run them through the interior.

The wires do not/will not interfere with anything. The emergency brake pedal is in the way of the drill. I had to drill in at a slight angle because the pedal wouldn't let me drill straight.

I had to take one out of my old '91, and it was a pain in the teeth. Basically had to do a headstand on the floor board holding a light in my teeth and cursing a lot.

In your pic it looks as though the brake pedal is depressed. Pardon me for asking the stupid question, but if you release the p brake does the pedal come far enough away from the floor to be out of the way? Just trying to keep it simple...

Ooooh. Gotcha.

It's not worth taking the pedal out for that. Finishing your hole with a file would be easier.

nope

longer drill bit? extension?

That wouldn't work, though if my drill was a few inches shorter I wouldn't have a problem. And airdrill would be ideal but I don't have one or a compressor.

I covered the entire grommet in RTV silicon sealant a couple of hours ago. I think that's gonna do the trick to hold it in place. If not I'll just file out the hole and use those screw together grommets.
