Hi all.

Got a 98 Ranger. I've noticed that when it is really cold my parking brake warning light doesn't want to turn off unless I screw with it for about 30 seconds. When its slightly warmer (say 45 or higher) I don't tend to have this problem.

I'll check the brake fluid level but I really doubt it is that as I mentioned I can get the light to turn off by simply set and dislodging the brake a few times.

I'm thinking more that the sensor for the parking brake simply needs to be adjusted by an 1/8" or so.

I've searched on the forums but looks like most people with this problem actually had problems with their brakes while I do not. Thanks in advance.

(By the way, if you think the cable just needs to be adjusted if you could show me where that is located at, that would be great!)

Get some spray lube (I am partial to silicone sprays for interior stuff because they won't stain carpets and generally smell better) and spray the pivot point of the parking brake arm. Work it a few times, spray, rinse and repeat. This usually fixes this issue.
