My son has a 84 ranger 2.8,4x4,4spd,and his right rear parking brake cable snapped right at the drum. The only problem is that there is a cable for up to 5/84 and one for 6/84 and on,his decal in the doorjam has been painted over so i don't know the month of his truck, does anybody know what the difference in the cables might be? It's a 7.5inch rear. Thanks, Mike

If you're getting them from a parts store, just buy both and return the one that you don't need once you have the right one in place.

I'll probably have to go that route about buying both and returning one,i wish they wouldn't change things half way through the year, also i'm going to try checking if he still has a axle tag and see if that has the month on it.Thanks for your replies, Mike

Maybe apples and oranges, but my 94 has 2/24/94 stamped in yellow on the front clip.

Get the last few digits of your VIN. I want the last letter and the six numbers that follow it. I promise nothing for sure, but certain combinations will let me take a pretty educated guess at the production date.

I'll get you the vin number on monday as we're off to visit our daughter for the weekend[thanksgiving weekend for us up here]Thanks again, Mike

Well i finally got the vin# it's lFTCRll56EUE02999,if you can't get the month from this,no worries i'll figure something out.I can't believe i turned 50 today,i better get my project BII going while i can still drive :icon_cheers:

I turned fifty this year too.I was kinda waiting for something terrible to happen but I feel good. You gotta take better care of yourself but it's not bad at all.
