Ok gents, swapped the 7.5in out of my 1996 108in WB for a 8.8on l/s out of a 2001 x-cab.

Trying to set the new axle up, and ran into a bit of confusion with parking brake cables.

Unfortunately none of them survived the swap process (rust) with the exception of the front cable on the 1996. Got on Rock Auto to get new cables, and now I'm plain confused on which ones to use.

Available options from rock auto:

Any (useful, Dirtman ) input is greatly appreciated!

I would buy rear cables for 10 inch rear brakes with 108 inch wheel base. Start there...

Are the ones for the 7.5 and 8.8 interchangeable??

I would think the difference is 9 or 10 inch brakes. But honestly... I'm not sure.

Did you try to mock up all the cables you had? Or did they get cut out?

All were chopped because I was fed up with trying to free them 😑😑😑

Have you tried putting a cucumber in a bucket?

7.5 to 8.8 shouldn’t make a difference.
9” - 10” will be different.

Just get right ones for a ‘96 with whatever size brakes are on the axle your putting in.

^ what he said

Wheel base and drum size is the main thing. When I put the 8.8 in my stepside truck I think I used the passenger side one from my Explorer and one for an '88 short box w/ 10" brakes on the driver's side, works great.

brakes are go "screech"

Pretty much what they said. Match wheel base and brake size to what you have and it should be good.
