I currently have a 7.5", 3.73, 28 spline, open diff, with 9" drum brakes in my truck, and I recently picked up an 8.8", 4.10, 31 spline, LSD, with 10" rear drum brakes. Do I need to buy new parking brake cables when making the swap from the 7.5" with 9" drum brakes to the 8.8" axle with 10" drum brakes, and if so, which of the cables in the diagram need to be replaced (1,3,4)?

Drawing from memory, if anything needs to be changed, it would the the rear two cables. I would get on a Ford parts site to compare part numbers. That's the best I can offer.

I'm curious what you find. Just finished getting my parking brake hooked back up but it's still clearly not behaving correctly.

Have you already assembled your drum brakes? If so, what did you use for the wheel cylinder link pins, the parking brake equalizer bars, and parking brake levers? I need to buy those parts but I can't seem to find the specific part numbers. I'm looking at these parts, but I don't know if they will work with Ranger 10" drum brakes:
Omix-Ada 16751.02 Wheel Cylinder Link Pins
Omix-Ada 16751.06 Parking Brake Equalizer Bar
Omix-Ada 16751.13 Parking Brake Lever

All the internal brake parts are original or stock replacement for my Sport Trac axle.

When I swapped my 7.5 rear end with small drums to a 8.8 with large drums I reused the cables that were on my truck. Pretty sure I bought all new hardware though. (wheel cylinders, springs, and shoes.)
