So I am planning to do some painting on my truck over the course of the current stage of my build and would like some input/knowledge about paint guns.

I have used gravity feed guns before, but never a siphon/suction feed. I am going to be painting the underside of the cab floorpan during this. I know a gravity feed gun is not going to work upside down. Not for long anyway. As I understand it a suction feed should continue to work upside down for a while, until the paint gets away from the pickup tube.

1) Is that correct?

2) Any other pros or cons to a suction fed unit that I should be aware that should influence my decision about which kind to buy.

Have you thought about using a pressure pot?

Or just rolling it?

I considered neither of those and bought a gravity feed gun.

Just jack up one side of the vehicle and paint.
Then reverse it and jack it up the other way.

The pick up tube can be angled in most bottles, turn it so it is at the back instead of the front

Actually, for the bottom of the floor brushing it on might be one of the better options. The cab is already going to be off the frame. I might still spray it because my gun does quite well on steep angles as long as the hopper isn't low.

nothing beats a good old binks spray gun.

a siphon feed gun will work great until it hits about 1/4 full. then it will spit.

if you do spray it with a siphon gun. once you seal the cup to the gun. run a strip of masking tape along with the seal from the cup meets the gun. otherwise it will drip.
