paint from HELL!!

i was giving my truck a btah yesterday and when my fiance was washing the windows she called me over to show me to my disgust the pait was flaking off the inner side of my door above the window and it was also doing this in the bed along the front pics to follow. needless to say im pissed cause this is the second problem the paint has givin me cause i also have cracks running along the hood and roof that when i took it to the dealer they said the truck was repainted but the car facts say nothing about any paint job or accident the truck is only 4 years old so i think its a defect in the paint what do u guys think

I would guess bad or improperly prepped primer. Or someone put a clear coat over the original that wasn't compatible with the existing paint or didn't prep it correctly. Bottom line is it wasn't prepped right.

yea thats not factory stuff. might not have been wrecked, might have been someone fixing scratches or dents and did a shitty job.

yea i know for a fact that the rust isnt causeing it cause the rust is very minimum. i know a guy thats been doing body work for a long time and haveing him look at it to see what he says hopefully he could give me a good deal to fix it too

Carfax is by no means complete. It involves mostly DMV and insurance records, if someone just took it to Macco, or even the dealer body shop, and paid out of pocket to get it re-painted for some reason Carfax won't pick it up.

I know how this is...

I bought my 87 for cheap knowing how much bondo and crap there was around the back fenders. They started to crack as soon as it got warm but then it looks like they used some kind of wrap on the back fenders...I took it to a car wash and hit the rear fenders and blew off a chunk of paint like yours. Dont judge me but I glued it back on! lol The truck is getting repainted CORRECTLY very soon.....

Prep work is key! It seems odd to me that someone painted such a new truck, you said this was the 06 right?

yea and the guy i know confermed it being repainted so now i just gotta hit it with some enamal till i can afford to get it repainted right =(

Those are the worst spots to get rust at simply because it's at the seam. May want to ask the autobody guy about using 2 part seam sealer before repainting it, or else moisture is just gonna keep coming through there until the paint flakes off again.

why would carfax pick it up? there isnt anything shady about someone wanting to get some small random scratches or a paint job done. quality of work of course, waivers
