1989 Ranger, The paint on the hood (mainly) is flaking off. I have sanded the rust spots and got them smooth, then hit it with the air hose and the areas around the sanded areas flaked off with the air pressure. My question is would it be better to use a paint stripper or just sand it all off. I don't have a good sander, and never done this before. Thanks

DON'T BLAST IT!!! if you use walnut shells or some thing like that it will be alright (but very expencive), but sandblasting will warp the snot out of it. the quikest and easiest way would be to remove the hood and use paint stripper, just make sure you nutrilize it after (most just need to be rinsed with water or thinners) or it will 'bleed' after you repaint.

Thanks for the replies, I have heard that sand blasting was not good,And I will probably strip it. Do you recommend any particular brand stripper? Thanks

Thanks for your reply, I sanded my azz off and got it done for now.
